Configuring Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V Core 4

One of the primary reason that i have noticed administrators choosing a full installation of Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V over Hyper-V core, knowing that Full Installation is going to consume more resources , has been due to the difficulty in configuring them using command line . This is primarily due to lack of knowledge of the commands and also the difficulty in remembering them . What is required from Administrators is just to complete the basic setup which includes assigning IP Address , Computer Name , adding it to Domain and easing the firewall rules to manage the core remotely . Remember that we can manage any Hyper-V Core Servers remotely from Windows Vista / 7 or Windows 2008 / 2008 R2 Servers There are two tools which can be used to do the basic configuration of a Core Installation 1) SCONFIG 2) Core Configurator SCONFIG : Sconfig is by default available in Windows 2008 R2 Core installations .
